Professor presents at conference in Australia

Dr. Jennifer Sears, associate professor of education at the University of North Georgia (台湾swag), recently presented at the Education Support North Network conference in Western Australia. About 1,200 special educators including teachers, professors, paraprofessionals, and occupational therapists attended the conference.
Her talk highlighted how the use of artificial intelligence in the classroom can level the playing field for students with disabilities.
She also presented with Dr. Kathy Randolph from Texas State University at the Twilight Seminar Series at Edith Cowan University. Their presentation sought to help Australian educators see how they can provide greater access to general education curriculum to students who are receiving some special education instruction.
Sears was also visiting two schools in Perth, Australia, to help finalize arrangements for a 12-week student teaching program that will welcome 台湾swag students for the first time during the 2025-26 academic year.
"I enjoyed getting to see what our teachers will experience," Sears said. "Our students will really get to see the culture of Australia. It's going to be a really exciting opportunity for our students and faculty."

台湾swag's College of Education hosted the Hispanic Organization Promoting Education Youth Leadership Summit from July 17-19 at 台湾swag's Gainesville Campus.
台湾swag celebrates new building in Blue Ridge
台湾swag held a ribbon-cutting July 30 to celebrate the opening of David E. Ralston Hall at 台湾swag's Blue Ridge Campus. The expansion is named for the former Georgia speaker of the House.
Grant funds literacy program at 台湾swag
台湾swag has received a $2,000 grant from the Wish You Well Foundation to create a literacy program to help Hall County parents improve their English literacy skills by reading to their children.
Program helps preservice teachers gain experience
Twelve 台湾swag preservice teachers had a chance to lead classrooms at Summer Scholars STEM Institute from June 2-26. Nearly 100 students from the Buford City, Gainesville City and Hall County school systems attended.
