The housing application is invitation only. Students who qualify to apply will receive an invitation to apply for housing roughly one week after confirming their acceptance with the ̨Íåswag Office. This invitation will be sent to the student’s ̨Íåswag email address and includes instructions on how to apply as well as helpful resources on our website.

̨Íåswag’s Residence Policy states that full-time students who are accepted with Dahlonega as their home campus and have not earned 30 hours or lived two semesters on-campus must apply for housing.

If you have 30 or more credit hours (outside of dual enrollment), or have lived on campus for two or more semesters, the Residence Policy no longer applies to you.

A Residence Life Coordinator is a professionally trained staff member that lives on-campus and serves in an on-call rotation to serve residents and Resident Assistants. There is one RLC assigned to each community on campus.

This role addresses roommate concerns when a Resident Assistant can no longer aid the issue. If you are having severe roommate concerns, please reach out to your RLC to address the situation.

A Housing Coordinator is a professional member of staff that administrates the housing application process and can help diagnose issues with student charges related to housing.

This role processes all room changes, including the Open Room Change period, as well as emergency moves due to student and staff concerns.

Residence Life does not currently offer on-campus housing to our Graduate students due to high demand from our Undergraduate population.

We also suggest getting in contact with our Financial Aid office and their advisors to stay on top of what resources the student currently has access to. Our Financial Wellbeing initiative allows students to access Financial Wellbeing Resources to stay on top of any stress that comes with managing their finances when it comes to attending ̨Íåswag.

Residence Life offers three open room change periods throughout the academic year that allow students to request new living arrangements for any reason. The Room Change Request form is hosted on ̨Íåswag Connect, and students are notified a week in advance of when the form will become available.

The first step is to contact your Resident Assistant and ask for assistance with mediating the situation. If your roommate concerns persist, involve your Residence Life Coordinator in the mediation. Residence Life Coordinators are trained professional staff members that monitor resident health in the residence halls and can make a recommendation for a room change if needed.

Residence Life prohibits the use of these type of lights in specific residence halls, namely Owen Hall and The Commons buildings. These lights can damage the wall or ceiling if always left on, and as a result are not permitted as decoration in a student’s room.

These lights are permitted in all other residence halls.

Beginning in fall 2025 - spring 2026 and summer 2026, Owen Hall will no longer have a 12-month contract and will close at the end of the spring semester like all other residence halls. This will allow Residence Life to give the building regular maintenance during the summer months to make sure we can welcome residents back to a freshly maintained residence hall every fall.

Residence Life does not currently allow students to alter their room in semi-permanent ways. We do encourage students to utilize renter-friendly methods to make their room feel like home but must make sure the integrity of the room can be maintained for future residents.

Additional furniture is allowed, but Residence Life encourages students to see their room in person before bringing anything extra. Students cannot request standard furniture to be removed from their room and should make sure the space is not too crowded for safety reasons.

Students residing in residence halls, aside from Owen Hall, are required to have a meal plan and will be assigned the default plan when their housing charges are applied to their invoice. A request to change your meal plan can be done once a semester at any time in the .

Certain residence halls stay open during breaks, but our traditional halls fully close. This includes Lewis Hall, Lewis Annex, and Donovan Hall. These students are required to check out of their residence hall and their access to the building is inactive during these periods.

Any items that produce an exposed flame, such as a candle, Bunsen burner, or handheld lighter.

Any items with an exposed heating element or involves a heating element incorporated with cloth, such as a heated blanket, heating pad, toaster oven, or toaster.
